WILD HORSE. These little wild horses have found their ideal habitat on the plateau of Giara in Sardinia, and only here have they survived. The origin of these small horses is shrouded in mystery. Archaeological remains suggest that the horses first arrived in Sardinia with the Phoenicians, or possibly the Greeks, around 1000 BC. These horses are high-spirited and capable of surprising shows of strength and resistance so that they have never been easily tamed and generally every attempt has ended in failure. |
