ABOUT ME             WELCOME! Thank you for taking your time to visit my web site created in May 2006. The pictures were taken from 1998 to date and I hope that I will be able to enrich the website in the future. Enjoy your visit.                 Rome 1970       I was born in Rome in 1965. Going back to my most distant memories I can say I have always been fascinated by nature and I have lived so far taking an interest in all its possible expressions. Photography has always been present in the background, but it became an active interest when I was almost thirty, at the time I bought my first reflex camera. My photographic attention was spontaneously directed to the natural world, leading me to live this experience     mainly as a spectator of wild life and places, managing through the lens to internalise the beauty that surrounds me. Initially I placed the subject as determining element, subsequently giving more weight to the light, the colours, the movement, seeking a visual gratification which stems from the balance of shapes, in an attempt to enhance two-dimensional reality.       South Africa 2005         When I started I used to take pictures with a mechanical 35mm camera, then I discovered the advantages of autofocus and metering. Now with the coming of the digital age I appreciate the great benefits that this new technology offers, but I remain bound to the original approach and so my images are not digitally manipulated, which is an important part of my philosophy.     I think that Photography must come out from creativity, from technique, but from only one tool, the camera and its lens. All results obtained by digital elaboration, though useful in a lot of applications, should be called something else.
